Proprietors
of Homestead Timber Buildings are Steve Clark and John
Simmons.
They started Homestead in 1989 as a small joinery
workshop working from a friend's barn in Wallingford
Oxfordshire.
Literally 2 men a van and a dog!
Whilst working through the recession of 1991 a former
client telephoned one day and asked if they were able
to make him a small "garden hut" that he could work
from. He said that he wanted to stop leasing an expensive
office in London and did not have the space in his house
to use as an office and wondered if they could help.
He was built a very simple 8'x 8' structure that he
was delighted with and very soon we were getting referral work from his friends
and family who wanted buildings for a study, hobby room
and a gym.
We identified this as a market opportunity and Homestead
Timber Buildings was born!
Due to the advances of computer technology throughout
the nineties and the advent of the internet we found
our business growing from strength to strength as more
and more people were able to work from home.
Twenty years on we estimate that we have built around
2,000 buildings mostly for garden offices which have
now become our speciality. New clients to our business
can be confident that we know exactly what we are doing
after all we have had enough practice!
Homestead now employs 30 staff (the dog has died) and
we now operate from a 20,000 square foot factory and
show site. We have our own carpenters, base constructors, electricians
and plumbers as we prefer not to sub contract any outside
workers that may be inexperienced in the way we work. Consequently our clients like the way we are able to
co ordinate all elements of the job.
Purchasers of Homestead Timber Buildings can be assured
of a personal service throughout by us "the owners". John Simmons and Steve Clark |
